Context
Over the course of the digital and information eras, many of the major innovations have come from communities of tinkerers. For example, people who were motivated to learn about computers because of the reward they anticipated in being able to build and play a game.
The information age itself has strong roots in the hippie movement of the 1960's (we're based out of Berkeley) and some of these original cultural elements are prevasive in some portions of the community today.
In the last five to ten years, the technology community has seen a growing shift towards emotional safety and nurturing respect for the individual. You can see it in the character of leaders like Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Bill Gates (to name the most commonly known, not an exclusive list).
You can also see this phenomenon in the growing adoption of contributor codes of conduct like The Contributor Covenant whose lengthy list of adopters can be found here. Or in the growing popularity of enterprise EQ educational programs like Search Inside Yourself.
Our Vision
The future of the technology community is not simply one of basic minimums of regard for persons but the application of these wealths of technological capability to maximize this; technology to enhance emotional safety, to enhance emotional intelligence, to prevent bias, and to enhance rationality.
Some of these technologies we are ourselves endeavouring to build but our expectation is that these capabilities will most likely be delivered at scale by larger commercial parties.
Our vibe is to be one of purposeful tinkering that plays just one part in lighting the way towards this vision for the continued growth of the circumstances for human flourishing.

In the mean time, we seek to live our values internally (and through our collaborations and partnerships) and perhaps ahead of the curve industry-wide. Even though we're still a new and small project we can see our future in this regard.
Our most prominent values pertain to the support of the flourishing of persons, by creating an environmnet of:
- Emotional safety,
- Thoughtful mentorship,
- Encouragement of self-determination,
- Creativity (including creative expression),
- Personal meaning,
- Fun and intrinsic reward
